Woodbine Martial Arts offers true Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as it was developed by the Gracie family. Our lineage is as direct as you can get:
Scott, along with his cousin RJ Nebe, began training with Rickson Gracie in 1993. Rickson remained their instructor until 2000 when he moved back to Brazil shortly after the untimely death of his son Rockson.
After Scott realized Rickson was staying in Brazil, Scott became an affiliate of Fabio Santos (www.fabiojiujitsu.com). Fabio is a RED AND BLACK BELT under the Gracie family and has an academy in San Diego, CA. Fabio travels to Woodbine semi-annually to teach seminars, classes, privates, and to test students for advanced rank.
Our focus is Sport Jiu-Jitsu with the Gi. With the guidance of Fabio, Woodbine Martial Arts has had many champions in regional jiu-jitsu competitions. Woodbine Martial Arts has also had champions and medalists in the Rickson Gracie International Jiu-Jitsu Championships, The American National Jiu-Jitsu Championships, Pan American Jiu-Jitsu Championships, and other international competitions.
Scott provides a friendly and encouraging environment in which to learn and apply the techniques of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. You will learn true, undiluted Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with rank achieved under Scott Thompson and Fabio Santos. Scott Thompson is the longest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner in the Midwest. Come and learn from his experience!
Woodbine Martial Arts has had some of our students fight in MMA. We have many local cage fighters and UFC fighters come to our classes to learn from Scott and Fabio.
